Here is a suggested overview of the year which RE Coordinators may find useful to personalise and share with staff. Dates are not included as there is so much variation among local authorities this year. Schools can decide when Other Faiths will be taught.

Year 5 teachers should note that, if their class was the Sacramental Preparation Class last academic year, they will have missed formal teaching of the Confirmation topic due to Covid-19. As this is the only time this sacrament is covered in the Primary curriculum it should be taught for this academic year in Year 5 in the summer term in place of Reconciliation. Mixed age classes should be able to track whether Confirmation has been covered.

Alternative overviews for Year 3 and 4 accommodate the Sacramental Preparation modules and show the change to the delivery of the Reconciliation module and the Baptism/Confirmation topic.
